InBrace is Back as InSmile

InBrace Technology is Back as InSmile Braces

July 29, 2025

We have exciting news for patients who have been searching for a truly invisible way to straighten their smile: the InBrace technology is back as InSmile Braces. At Life Orthodontics, we’re thrilled to announce, we are once again accepting new patients to be treated with the InBrace technology, now as InSmile braces.

What is InSmile?

InSmile Braces uses the InBrace technology which is the most popular form of lingual braces (behind-the-teeth braces) in the United States. Rather than being placed on the front of your teeth like traditional braces, InSmile sits on the back of your teeth, making it completely hidden from view. In fact, most of our patients tell us that they go their entire orthodontic treatment without their friends and colleagues ever realizing they had braces on.

What are the Pros and Cons of InSmile?

The main benefit of InSmile is that it’s truly invisible. Traditional braces, whether metal or clear, are very visible and obvious to anyone that you are undergoing orthodontic treatment. Clear aligners (e.g.,Invisalign, Angel Aligner) are more esthetic than traditional braces, but you still have attachments and plastic on your teeth that are visible, so it is still obvious to the lay person that you are in treatment. However, with InSmile sitting on the back of the teeth, it is fully hidden from view where nobody can tell that you are straightening your teeth.

The next pro of InSmile is that it is compliance-free compared to clear aligners. Clear aligners require strict wear time to work, where you must wear the removable aligners about 20-22 hours per day where you only remove them to eat, drink, and brush your teeth. If you do not wear the clear aligners as directed, they do not work. Unlike clear aligners, InSmile is fixed to the back of your teeth, so it is always working, even when you’re not thinking about it.

The final major benefit of InSmile is that it is custom-made and digitally designed for every patient. This means that your entire treatment is mapped out on the computer, similar to how a GPS works, which enables you to get to your final smile destination in the most efficient route possible. This tends to lead to shorter treatment time and fewer visits compared to traditional braces.

The few considerations to keep in mind with InSmile is that there will be an initial adjustment period with it. You may experience some discomfort and speech changes as you adapt to them, similar to what you’d expect with traditional braces or clear aligners.
